Global Creativity Initiative


What is Global Creativity Initiative?

Global Creativity Initiative (GCI) is an emerging international organization, that aims to seek, archive, celebrate, and share global examples of creativity, related research, innovations, and their motivations. When the first GCI meeting took place at the SOU Creativity Conference in 2022, it brought to fruition attempts to collaborate internationally.

For whom?

GCI is for those interested in discussing, reading, and writing about creativity to support a global initiative.

Goal

The GCI goals are to: i) design a shared hub of diverse representations of creativity as practiced worldwide and ii) help spark creative activity in a range of ways—individual, community, national and international.

Mission

The GCI is a learning organization aiming to share understanding about creativity and innovation across countries and cultures that will create new collaborations, novel research, and mutual understanding.

Activities

The first GCI activity is to create a virtual archive comprised of research publications, videos, and other artifacts. of interest to the members. GCI has a LinkedIn page, a Podcast and a Newsletter. GCI has been present att the SOU Creativity Conference in Oregon, USA ,and the KIE conference in Madrid (2023) and Rome (2024). GCI organizes its first International Creativity Symposium in Finland 16-17 September, 2024.

About Malakta

Malakta is an artist-run center located in an old dairy by the Malax River in the municipality of Malax in Western Finland. Malakta is a center for creativity, culture, arts, and people, with the aim to create an oasis for people where creativity, ideas, art, and culture can grow and flourish. Malakta's keywords are action, sustainability, and inclusion.
